The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 | Movie Review

I went to see Mockingjay last night, and I am happy to say that I am not disappointed.

I absolutely loved the Catching Fire movie, and because this movie had the same director, I had high hopes for this one. Once again, Frances Lawrence delivers. Surprisingly, I think that I might have enjoyed this movie more than the book (I found the book a bit boring, but still, that doesn’t happen often).

The movie is a very faithful adaptation of the novel, though not as faithful as Catching Fire was. There are some minor changes, but nothing cut out was really disappointing to me. As always, there are scenes added, such as scenes of President Snow and in the Districts that we do not get to see in the novel, and I quite enjoyed those scenes.

My favorite scene in the whole movie is when Katniss is singing the Hanging Tree song, and then it cuts to the Districts. I don’t know, it’s just a really powerful scene.

I also really enjoyed where they ended this one. It felt like a good place to split the storyline. I mean, I wish they didn’t split it at all, but if they had to, this was a good place to do so.

All in all, go see Mockingjay. It is so so so so good.
